    Too much memory usage?

I've been noticing Chrome discarding tabs lately which is something that I haven't seen since I had my Windows 7 computer over six years ago. And I'm only using about 61 percent memory. And I've used more memory but didn't have that happen. What's happening? Is it because I'm using too much memory or what?

The reason we ask that you fill in your computer specs, is so that we can click on the My Computer hicky under your avatar and things...and see what your hardware is.

That way we don't have to type...well how much RAM DO you have?

Thing is though, I don't know how much RAM that I have and I don't know how to check for it. 16 GB.

    I just checked, it's 16GB.

Get Speccy (free) here: Download Speccy | Find your computer specs, free!

...and then post a screenshot of the main page... like this...

Then, you can use that information to fill out your system specs.

Or... in the taskbar search box you can type: sysinfo

I'll do this later. But would you know why suddenly my computer is deciding that my RAM isn't enough? Because I heard that 16 GB is on the high side.

Everyone always says: "I'll do this later". Then they come on again in 2-3 days with a different problem...and guess what... no system specs. ^^

Chrome uses a lot of RAM, but unless you have like 40 tabs open, it shouldn't be using 61% of 16GB.

Yeah. Just about that many. A lot of YouTube videos and OverDrive books.

I got one more question. I am looking at my memory Chrome is using up only 5GB. How is that even close to 16GB?

Well, 5/16 is .3125 or 31%. And w/o knowing how many tabs or instances of Chrome you have open...

This may help. Use Option One...

The second highest memory usage is Spotify at 100 MB.

    Hey Rockfan

    1. Rockfan? Really? How could anyone be a rockfan when this is readily available --

Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed (Digitally Remastered: 1998) - YouTube

    2. It's the strangest thing. On my main PC a few days ago my fan kicked in. And it got progressively louder. As if the system was suddenly doing a TON of work. I opened up Task Man (not Rock Fan but Task Man) and he showed Chrome going WILD just like you have with like 12 parts of it working hard all at once. The thing is --

    -- I use Firefox.

What I'm suggesting is perhaps this has ZERO to do with RAM, since I have 8 and you have twice that.

I have a sense of something that upset the system. I was watching a YouTube that decided I wanted to watch in 2K. I have a 2K monitor at that PC and I switched it to 720p and the fan died.

    3. My music collection is around 16 thousand songs. That song in #1 is hands down the best BAD song ever. (You can't listen to truly bad songs, but this one is special.)
