Low Ram - High CPU Load?

Basically the title, if you have a very low amount of RAM, to the point where its bottle necking your computer, can that put more stress on the CPU? And further increase the pressure on it and thus temperature increase?

And I guess in general, if you have components in a computer, and one part is not performing exceptionally well, can that alter the way other pieces of hardware works whether its being used more often or under more load?

Coming from another thread, If you check my system specs, its all the same except I'm only running 4gb's of ram at the moment. I had 8 gigs that ended up being faulty. For a total of 12.

My cpu temps are fine (I think) around 30+ on idle with chrome on 13 tabs and around 55-60 when I have a game on. I'm just trying to pinpoint whether my all in 1 liquid cooler needs replacement or if I just need more RAM to balance everything out.

    Thank you :)

The only issue running with low RAM is that it may make use of virtual memory, slowing down the computer.

If there is high memory pressure there will be a higher level of hard page faults. Disk access consumes CPU time, but not much. But there is a factor that offsets this. A high level of page faults would mean the CPU is doing a lot of waiting instead of running your program. In general I would expect a system with low RAM to have lower CPU usage, not higher.

If you are having concerns about high temperatures you need to look elsewhere.

But 4GB RAM is adequate only for light duty games.

I suggest you to use Open Hardware Monitor.
Extract all files to C:\Program Files (x86)\HardwareMonitor and run OpenHardwareMonitor.exe. Under options you can set to run when windows start.
You can set what to see on the try and on the gadget. Very good
On my gadget you can see the memory bar to indicate memory usage.

    Hello @Vellaura,
12 GB RAM seems reasonable. How do you have your paging file set? Manage Virtual Memory Pagefile in Windows 10 I would try/recommend System Managed initially.

Hmmmm, yeah, based on what yous are saying it couldn't have that severe of an effect.

What are the main reasons cpu is overheating?

Either my all in one cooler no longer has liquid? If that's a thing. Because I can hear the fan but the temperature spikes up. When I loaded chrome it spiked up again. Got too hot and I had to turn it off.

Any other possible factors or can we go ahead and blame the cooler. The pipe rattling noise is also consistent at times.

Sorry, but it's not clear who you're replying to. Can you clarify by quoting them?

Oh I meant to all comments in generaI, looking to replace the liquid in my AIO cooler now. I'm quite certain that's the reason it's heating up. Anyone have any guides on how exactly to do that?

Did the cooling liquid ever leaked?
Don't think you need to fill it up or replace the cooling liquid.
On the radiator you may have a cap to inspect. If there is no place to do it, it will be a little more complicated.

Nah no leak, I did some research and it is complicated. But I don't understand why it's overheating. I might have to give it a knock or turn it upside down. Maybe the liquid stuck on one side. I'm looking to replace it with a fan heatsink cooler but not sure if it's necessary.

The pump is making a noise so my guess is it's related to that.

Does anything look unusual? I opened the case up, knocked on the pumps a little, turned the case upside down, left side up and all around, in hopes to maybe get the liquid flowing in case it was stuck somewhere. It's been going good so far, usually when I open up chrome the temps start to go.

The temperatures where fluctuating higher initially but eventually it started to hang around 40's as shown in pictures. I have some more pictures from initial start up when it was running hotter if you would like those.

    Thank you.

Edit: I can hear little sounds like as if cooking butter on a stove from the pumps.

So far so good, going to run a game, see what happens, hopefully might just need to re apply thermal paste, worst case might need to a new cpu cooler.

My temps definitely spike up to around 50-55 when I launch a program. I dont think thats normal, temps should stay pretty stable right?

    Definitely fluctuates up and down.
