auslogics disk defrag

As most of you probably know, it's not really a good idea to defrag your ssd, but auslogics offers an option to defrag your ssd with some algorithms they made, to optimize your ssd with. What do you guys think about this, has anyone tested it and if so, what were your results?

Solved, i went with auslogics disk defrag, for better ssd optimization. ✔

You ought either to provide proof of that statement or to retract it.

Left in its default settings, Windows defrags SSDs monthly - if you have left the SSD to be 'optimised' weekly by the Defragmenter then it actually trims & defrags monthly. This info is in defrag - Microsoft Docs under the sub-heading 'Scheduled task'

-The situation is further complicated by the fact that, since Windows Vista & 7, Windows defragmentation has not bothered moving around blocks of 64MB or greater. So your files can remain fragmented to that extent. MS experimented and decided that its old practice of fully defragmenting files gained no benefit once lumps of 64MB were consolidated. The defrag & trim records are kept in Event viewer, Application log, Sources - Defrag, Defrag-Core and, as lxo7 post in TenForums illustrates, they can be accessed through PowerShell as well.
- I have never managed to catch a record of anything other than trimming taking place but others have seen SSD defrag happening [shown in that lxo7 post]

That 2011 article makes no attempt to provide supporting evidence and consists of no more than a string of false statements.

The links I posted contain logical arguments and do refer to supporting evidence. Those articles provide you with a sound basis for making your decision about staying with MS defrag or moving to auslogics.

Additionally to that IMHO on windows 10 there is only one general disk servicing/management system to use and that is the one provided on 10
Many third party ones have a history of causing problems
They move what the defragger/optimizer considers to be files/fragments to another part of the drive, resulting in Windows - maintenance/updates then not finding those moved files

Windows 10 stores parts of the file system required for updates etc and other maintenance procedures in locations on the drive not sometimes recognised by these 3rd party disk maintenance programs

Sometimes when such data is moved it results in errors at a future date.

I have no idea what actual procedures of the special algorithms of Auslogics uses to optimize SSD drives.

I just ran auslogics a couple of times. It feels like my computer is a bit more snappy than previously. I went with one of these older versions though, since the option to defrag the ssd is a paid only feature, in the latest version of the program.

Just bad wording. It most likely involves trim and typical SSD optimizations, like disabling Superfetch.

I prefer to use SSD manufacturer's utility to do that.

Only the SSD controller really knows where the cells are located. For this reason, using any sort of software program to consolidate free space is likely a bad idea — the program doesn’t really know what’s going on behind the SSD controller.

That all said, the decision is yours it your computer.
All the advice was that the program was not needed, and indeed IMHO likely to cause problems , but you decided to use it.
