You are right about defragging SSD also - otherwise the MFT gets too big - this is a NTFS limitation not an issue with HDD/SSD. Luckily the Windows optimization (in addition to running trim weekly) runs this defrag once a month.

It still (if you look at event viewer you can check it) works the same.

Yeah - that article was rather disengenous though, deliberately overstating the case, and for most users, not a big deal. However, MS took steps to ensure defragmentation is done occasionally so that issues in article never arise.

Every entry I have [it has them since February] for my SSD says, "The storage optimiser successfully completed re-trim on OS10 (C:)" but I was expecting one of them to match my HDD records each month, "The storage optimiser successfully completed defragmentation on DataCore (D:)".

I have checked that the -O switch is in the TS task's defrag command.

I just checked using the command given and got this:

Drives G: and H: are USB but the F: drive is not shown, probably because it is a WDC 4TB drive formatted from the factory as exFAT.
