Good Morning
Hope this is the correct thread to post in, if not, I will remove the post.
If anyone has upgraded to the i9 processors, I have some new findings on them:
I updated mine 2 days ago, as MSI update utility notified an out of date Turbo boost driver, the new driver is actually designed to improve on single core and duel core tasks, it identifies the best performing core to provide increased single-threaded performance. My previous bench test were all scored on a 148-162% over a 100, however on the single core tasks it was sub par, the new update focuses on this issue and inmo addressed it perfectly, the results are well worth it, and the cpu performs great. I did a test on cpu-gene to monitor the cores, on a game like the Witcher 3, two cores out of the 10cores ran at 48-55% usage, whilst the other 8 remained a 1-2%. Before the driver update they ran in mixed sequence, it would range from core 1 and 5 running high, then dropping and then a sudden high usages of core 7 while the rest are low etc. Seems like the new update singles out one or two cores for best performance, depending on the program. i did not notice a great difference in fps on the game, however temps where lower.
On auto-cad, Photoshop and 3d rederer, the cpu used up to 8 cores at 55%, on Overwhatch only one core was used at one stage.
The temperatures range from 28c-34c, I have found a thread that "Swarfega" opened and listed Speccy as a good temp monitoring program, I will post in that thread my temps etc. The i9 is very easily boosted to the 4.5ghz from my motherboard as it is listed, however it runs at a minimum of 3.5ghz at "idle", I have it on auto boost if an application needed, so far I could not see a program running 10 cores at 4.5ghz, the cpu remains at 3.5ghz.
In short, if yu are running the i9 or the new gen i7, here is a link to the update, it is well worth it imho.

Have a nice day.
@Lagged, since you have the i9 7900x, this might interest you, as far as security is concerned: New Intel CPU Cache Architecture Boosts Protection Against Side-Channel Attacks
https://software.intel.com/sites/def...ion-manual.pdfIntel released a new CPU model this week, the Intel Core i9 7900X, which is the latest model to feature a new cache architecture that hardware experts believe it will make exploitation of side-channel attacks a lot harder.
This improvement in CPU security is attributed to a new cache architecture that Intel developed for the Knights micro architecture and Skylake server CPU models, and which Intel added to i9, a line of CPU models for HEDT (High-End-DeskTop) products.
Thank you Cliff S , I always enjoy some new reading, interesting part in the article: "Despite the improvements, Fogh doesn't see this new cache architecture trickling down to mid and low-end notebooks and laptops anytime soon" have to be honest, I thought i9 laptops where gonna be in production immediately.
Yep. Looks like Asus bios 3504 is being validated and those not wanting to wait can download an "unvalidated" version.
Z170/Z270 ROG and ROG Strix UEFI updates for hyper-threading bug
Thank you @essenbe , I posted some temps in the temp thread, but on idle the i9 runs at 17-20c depending on outside temps, as far as it's performance on gaming, I only tested it on Witcher 3 and Battlfield 1 with temps ranging from 28-32c, and still only used 2 cores, so imo it's a great cpu, but overkill
