I recently had Fios Gb installed and never reached speeds over 200-220 Mbps. Did this and now get 476/469 down/up! Tried many other solutions and none worked--Thanks! Will keep this on the PC if needed again.
Hey guys I tried this and it didn't help me and in my case problem was windows and store updates which following instructions limited their background behavior:
settings >> network & internet >> data usage >> background data >> enable to "Always"
It's funny because i messed with registry many times and this solved the problem! :)
A full 3 years later and this solution is still a life-saver. I joined the forums just to say thank you as this solved my problem as well . In my case I was getting ~200 Mbps downloads on one Windows 10 system in my house, but all of my other wired machines were hitting 750-950 Mbps download on my new Gig internet connection.
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong, and right after applying the two registry files I rebooted and voila! Full speed downloads. Thank you for taking the time to post your solution. May good karma find you in the future!
This fixed my PC slow internet. The problem I was having: After a reboot, the internet would be ok, 230mbps download. After about five minutes the download speed would be about 30mbps. This was driving me crazy for months.
Exporting the old Winsock.reg and Winsock2.reg, and then merging the ones I downloaded fixed it! I know this is an old thread, but still works today!
Thanks!
