    trouble shoot Windows networking failure

In my home LAN, sometimes one system becomes inaccessible to the other systems even though there have been no configuration or setting changes. This drives me crazy at times.

Is there a best practice for diagnosing or trouble-shooting this problem?

    Is it all Ethernet cable?

Are the computers all setup as a private network?

Any anti-virus product with fluff BS getting in the way? Sometimes that kind of software can mess up a TCP/IP stack...

For me personally, I just use an FTP server software called Serva community edition on the computers and that's how I transfer files from my phone or other computers. The computer FTP client software I use is WinSCP and on the phone I use FTPCafe which I think I got from the F-Droid play store. Only reason why I mention this is because I never did like NetBIOS and Samba and its encompassing security risks and BS connectivity issues like you are experiencing now. I've seen many posts about Windows file sharing and how it didn't work right.

    Edit-

Ping the crap out of your problematic PCs with the T flag once.

    ping 192.168.xxx.xxx -t

You can turn that into batch file for one click deployment... I have several that ping various servers. You can even deploy it via Task Scheduler.

Please confirm that you mean inaccessible rather than not shown in File explorer's Network section.
    - You could test, for example, typing this in COMPUTERNAME1's File explorer address bar \\COMPUTERNAME2

    All the best,

@denis The other system becomes inaccessible.

In general, I find that Windows networking is the majority of all my maintenance issues.
