    Network error Peer Name

I found obsolete posts on this topic referring to fixing "Home Group" which no longer exists.

I have four PC running on network but not all appear on each PC.

One of the four ( I'm on that PC now ) I cannot start required services. This PC can only see itself and one other as a media device. All others see each other.

Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRPSvc)- [ error 0x80630203 Unable to access a key

    Peer Networking Grouping (P2PSvc) [ can't start 1068 dependency failed start ]

All other PC these services are okay.

All are running v.22H2 all installed from same thumb drive

Here is a grid showing what appears where.

Why can't Microsoft make errors more useful like stating what key it cannot find? And why is it not possible to copy/paste error messages to text file?

In what context and on which PC do you see that error message? Do you see it on all? Thanks.

Have you ever had these PC's successfully networked?
Have you ever disabled services or applied related tweaks?
Which security program are you using?

You are probably aware of this tutorial: (Option1 - configuration)
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

why is it not possible to copy/paste error messages to text file?
You would need to ask MS- use the Feedback Hub app.

I can offer a way to deak with that: get a (free) screen OCR tool. I use two- the free one is Capture2Text, the other, a giveaway version of Abbyy Screenshot Reader.

    (On)
One of the four ( I'm on that PC now ) I cannot start required services.
    First try
Restore Default Services in Windows 10

See if your problem still exists.

    Possible fix - See e.g.
Fix Windows Could Not Start the Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service Error 0x80630203 - YouTube
    - there are others on the net as you know.

Normally it should not be necessary to start services yourself.

If you still have difficulty, perform an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data

Other Info: Only space for one system.
    - actually the forum allows for 2. Click 'My computers' below my post for example.

You say all drives set to everyone permission is that correct as it's a security risk and confusion for windows as by default all drives have a hidden admin share with a $ is c$

This is not a solution the the problem however absent some info on what to alter. I often find confusing and contradictory info on correct settings for local network. I have noticed that in many cases where permissions are only set to NETWORK they don't work and as soon as I add EVERYONE they do work.

If there is a definitive and authoritative instruction on Win10 networking I would love to have a link. There is very little organization on Microsoft site for anything. It's all scattered around.

    Thanks

Look forward to any acknowledgement of my post.

Start with the tutorial in my post...! And more linked to it after the main text.

Consider getting a copy of "Networking for Dummies" - forgive the name, it's just what it's called.

    The Windows 10 problem

The problem with Windows 10 is it just does not appear to maintain a correct list of machines, so if a Windows 10 machine becomes Master Browser then it will either report that it is the only machine on the network or not report at all.

If the Windows 10 machine is shut down and the Master Browser "baton" is passed to a Windows 7 machine then the list comes back up again.

Tried turning off #3 which is reported as "master browser" NetScan still sees it, reports as MB even tho it is shut off?
