    WiFi Does Not Auto Connect Upon Startup, Recently

    Wi Fi does not auto connect any longer since yesterday, it needs me to turn Off and then On the Auto Connect button which is always in the On position.
    Attached find the present of present and long stablished Network connections which I suspect has something to do with it.
    Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.WiFi Does Not Auto Connect Upon Startup, Recently-nework-connections-network-adapter-options-.png

    Hello @rcten,

    To start with, to see more information and which ones are ACTUALLY Enabled [ They can show as Disconnected in the State, but are still Enabled ] . . .

    [1] Open an Elevated CMD Prompt [ Administrative ] by pressing the Win + X keys together and selecting Command Prompt (Admin).
    [2] Type the below Command in the Elevated CMD Prompt and press Enter.

    Code:

    netsh interface show interface && wmic nic get name, index

    I hope this helps.

    In the time it took me to obtain response to the cmd prompt the wi-fi is automatically made I noticed it takes W10 about 35 seconds to do so when before yesterday it took around 10 seconds. So my complaint is modified to " too long to obtain wi-fi"

    I used to be able to delete those network adapters with a left or right mouse click but now I can't do so. Can you advise me as to solving that? Thank yu so much for your assistance!

    Hello @rcten,

    [1] What is the Index of your Wireless Network Adapter [ Wi-Fi ]?
    [2] Is it number 2?
    [3] Are you using a VPN?

    Hello @rcten,

    I have a problem once in a Blue Moon whereby when I come out of Sleep the Wi-Fi is Disconnected. I tried to Troubleshoot this, but to no avail. As this is such a RARE occurrence, I use the following Batch Script [ NO computer Restart needed ] to get it back online [ works for me ] . . .

    > rcten.bat

    This is the code within the ABOVE Batch Script . . .

    Code:

    @echo off
    echo. & echo  Processing [ Resetting Wi-Fi ] . . .
    netsh interface set interface "Wi-Fi" disable
    netsh interface set interface "Wi-Fi" enable & timeout /t 5 /nobreak >nul
    netsh interface show interface
    echo. & echo  Processing Complete.
    echo. & echo ^>Press ANY key to EXIT . . . & pause >nul & Exit

    Also, have a look at this => Script to Disable / Enable Network Interface

    I hope this helps.

    Hi rcten

    When you refer to being able to "delete those network adapters", are you referring to the Wireless profiles saved on your PC?

    Try this to see how many Wireless profiles are saved.

    From an elevated Command Prompt, type or copy & paste the following;

    Code:
    netsh wlan show profiles

    How many Wireless profiles are displayed?

    Just for comparison and to put your mind at ease concerning having numerous saved profiles. I cleaned mine up recently, still have 10 profiles saved and experience no similar connection delays as you describe.

    If you care to tidy up ancient profiles that you're confident are of no future value, this tutorial explains how;

    Hello @rcten,

    Did you run my Batch Script, and if so, what were the results?

    Hi rcten

    Another item to verify that is occasionally known to cause network connection delays is on the Power Management tab of your WLAN card in the Device manager.

    Open the Device manager using Win key + X, and M key. Right click your WLAN card, select Properties and click the Power Management tab.

    Confirm that the checkbox for 'Allow the computer to turn off this device...' is not checked.

    I had to go out on an errand, now I am reading up on how to download and apply Batch Script.
    But I am very grateful for your so expert help! Will get back when done.

    Result: It Disabled Wi-Fi so I couldn't get back online as the Wi-Fi network disappeared and had to restart the laptop and enable Wi-Fi. Verified the original problem still exists.

    What do you think?

    - - - Updated - - -

    WLAN Card "the checkbox for 'Allow the computer to turn off this device.". was "checked" and I unchecked it.
    Still there is no automatic connection to Wi Fi after awaking from sleep. The button for Automatic Wi Fi is turned Off when awakening when I think I had left it On, turned it back On and takes longer to find the Wi Fi and make the connection.
    Maybe I have done something wrong?
