Ethernet internet cutoffs on a brand new gaming laptop

I've got a new MSI GE75 raider. Overall well equipped for my needs, including Ethernet (home use, faster, more secure). I get something happening that I've not seen in a long time. All of a sudden zero internet traffic, whether GMAIL, MSI website, etc. It might be for a minute, 5 minutes, than normal. At the moment, when things work normally, I do about 800 MBPS up / down to my FIOS 3200 router with 1gbps service. Other equipment on the same run have never experienced this problem.

Win 10 Pro, either first or 2nd half 2010. Equipment (though these laptops like to run hot) is reasonably cool. I eliminated one network switch and cable to bypass that as a possible cause.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the ethernet 'device' as per Device Manager. Problem does not seem as bad since, but still exists.

How can I effectively trouble shoot this, in particular being sure that it is just this laptop?

Has anyone seen this and have any ideas? Problem has not been resolved yet.

Right here. Brand new GE75 Raider - haven't even been running it for two weeks yet.
For sure the ethernet was working fine - using a CAT7 cable like I have been with my other machines.
This evening - setting up a VPN, I noticed that -- I was connected to my WiFi, which is not my preferred network from this room/location. I shut off the WiFi and -- I'm no longer connected to the internet. Say what? I checked, and Windows does not think that I have a cable plugged in.

I jiggle.. I disconnect and reconnect, I take a second, definitely working cable from another machine, plug it in. Windows still says there is no ethernet cable connected. WTF... brand new lappy... and the wire-connection was definitely working last week at the latest. There have been windows updates, but ... hmmm.. intel microcode updates.

I need to double-check and verify that there are no incomplete / partial updates involving cpu and/or chipset.

As of right now - ethernet jack unusable. It probably has nothing to do with windows update, but I will verify that status.

I do not suspect a faulty jack - it's brand new and was working - yet the OS says it's unplugged.

For now, check your Ethernet drivers. I uninstalled, let them reinstall. Plus you can make sure they are current. Then see how you do. That's an easy gotcha to deal with and prove out. And I did with mine. I still get disconnects once in a while for no obvious reason.

Most probably you've installed the latest driver from MSI and still drops connection?

One thing is obvious - I'm not the only person with the problem. I've rebooted my FIOS gear, any Ethernet gear along the path. Swapped any cables I can. Seems far less likely on WiFi than plugged into ethernet. I will note that performance is improved re this article How to improve network speed in Windows 10 by increasing IRPStackSize - TechRepublic but I can't say that eliminates the disconnects, at least not yet. I do want you to know it is not your imagination.

@pbug56 have you tried setting your adapter to maximum performance?

Right click start button, run "PowerShell (Admin)", copy paste code below and right click into console to paste
    press enter to execute:
    Code:
    Get-NetAdapter -Physical | Disable-NetAdapterPowerManagement

If you are saying to disable the ability to turn off the ethernet device to save power - ABSOLUTELY. You can do that through power management. Nothing to do with improving the performance, but it eliminates ONE of the causes of this problem. But even once done, the problem remains, just not as often. The change i noted, IRPSTACKSIZE, can improve network performance. But does not fix the problem.

Let me make this clear to newcomers. On these MSI RAIDER laptops, you can be plugging along with normal web use, try to open a web page, get a message that you are disconnected from the web. Maybe you refresh several times, one way or another after a couple minutes you suddenly have things go back to normal. If you make sure that you turn off the ability of the OS to turn off the adaptor to save power it does not happen as often but it can still happen. As best as I can tell this is only on wired ethernet. It does not seem to matter at all what site I am trying to reach. CPU temp does not seem to matter.
