Extreme Bandwidth Usage . Need Help Fast Please

My ISP is "sparklight". My plan includes 100mps download speed and i get 300 gb of data each month. Suddenly my usage spiked and i'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I found a windows 10 setting that shows "system" using a ton of bandwidth. I'm in the process of unchecking things in the firewall that look new and turning off services i don't use. I'm getting in over my head and need a professional to take a look at this please?
Heres a screenshot i found in a windows 10 setting

If it is coming from system

click Start > Settings > Update and Security > View update history

Is one or more updates failing... ?

Did you recently start using Onedrive ? (To keep files in cloud?)

I'm somewhat envious of your monthly bandwidth allotment, I have an expensive and crappy wireless connection.

Even if my plan was huge and cheap, I'd still set my connection to metered to avoid the bulk of wasted use of my data plan. If you use a wifi, look under connection properties.

If you use Ethernet, look here.

Set Ethernet Connection as Metered or Unmetered in Windows 10

This isn't necessarily a solution for the problem you have, however; it has the ability to prevent excessive usage by WU.

Thanks; No i haven't. Why would i go to safe mode?

Hey; in those internet settings, i found, under "data usage", a setting that let's you set a limit. Since i get 300gb each month, i set that limit to 250gb a month. Is this correct? Will windows somehow block me once i reach the limit i set?

I'm still a novice to Windows but it is my understanding that if the same issue replicated itself in safe mode it would reveal a system level issue. Whereas if it suddenly stopped it may indicate you've added a software or changed a setting or have a virus or malware afoot.

Cool; if, after all i've done, i continue to see spikes, i will absolutely run a few days in in safe mode(with networking) and see what happens. To enter safe mode, do i go into msconfig and make the switch there or what?

    Something like that.

How To Boot Into Safe Mode in Windows 10 in 2019

(Windows needs to WAKE UP to simplicity. I wish I could tell you to hit the Windows button, type SAFE MODE, select the local result, and off you go to SAFE MODE. C'mon Nadella.)
