    Media disconnected

I have just encountered a problem where I have no internet connection on Windows 10.
I have tried every last suggestion I found via my iPad search (lots of them) none of which solved the problem.
I get a main message of “media disconnected” but the cable is okay with a similar problem using a different cable.
Windows 10 is up to date, funny thing is Virgin Media says “connected but no internet”
I am at a loss what to try next seemingly exhausting all the theories.
If there are any suggestions whatsoever I will reply stating if I’ve tried it or not.
    Thanks

How about trying the opposite? Let us know what you have tried so that we don't need to rehash things you have already done.

    Reset the TCP/IP stack
    Release the IP address
    Renew the IP address
Flush and reset the DNS client resolver cache
Uninstall the Network Adapter Driver and Restart
Update the network adapter driver obviously couldn’t go online for update
    Run the Network Troubleshooter
    Checked Network Adapter not Disabled
    Disabled sharing
    Ensured not a cable problem
    Disabled virus and firewall software
    Checked router settings
    Reset network settings

    Not necessarily in that order

Thanks for all the detail. Much appreciated.

It sounds like you've done a good deal already, so forgive me if any of these items sound overly simplistic...

    First step:

What do your IP settings look like? (look at the output of "ipconfig /all"). If you are not familar with all the output, can you grab a screenshot with your iPad and post it here? Does it look like you are getting a valid IP address for your internal network as well as DNS Server address? NOTE: The DNS Server address may just be your router.

Next, verify that you can at least ping your router IP address and your DNS server address. If the router is your DNS server try to ping Google DNS servers: "ping 8.8.8.8" or "ping 8.8.4.4".

If that works, then you are getting out, at least by IP address. Now, see if name resolution is working:

Open a command prompt and run the following:

    Code:
    nslookup
    www.google.com
    www.microsoft.com
    exit
If name resolution is working, then nslookup should be able to return IP addresses for both lookup of Google and www.microsoft.com.

NOTE: If you have both IPV4 an IPV6 enabled, then nslookup should return both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses.

If it's still not working at this point, have you tried removing power from the router, wait maybe 30 seconds or so, then plug it back in and allow it to boot?

Also, was there anything in particular that led up the problem, like any major changes? Maybe right after an upgrade of Windows, change of driver, etc.?
