    Netgear Firmware Warning

I recently updated by Netgear firmware with the newest release. In my case V1.0.2.130 for an R8500 Nighthawk.

Immediately I started having Internet issues using my iOS devices on the Guest networks (2.4 or 5.0).

I've been doing a lot of testing and also found my Android device cannot access Internet.

Both types of devices can connect, just can't access Internet. Windows devices can access Internet as can my IoT device.

Found the same issue with a different router on the Netgear Community only an R7900P using V1.4.1.30. (Posted today)

I fell back to V1.0.2.128 and Guest access to the Internet immediately started to work.

This might not apply to all members (if you don't use Guest network) or all Netgear routers.

    Did you do any troubleshooting:

Was the DHCP server giving you a routable address or were you getting 169.254.x.x address.
Did you check if it had the correct time and timezone.
Did you check if it might have been a DNS issue:
    • could you
      Code:
      ping 8.8.8.8
    • could you
      Code:
      ping google.com
    • did you try
      Code:
      nslookup example.com

The browsers and all apps that use wifi were unable to access on Mobile devices. Stock apps, weather apps, specific news apps.

Windows 10 devices were able to access internet as was my IoT device.

Reset router and walked through all settings with new firmware. Everything worked except iOS and Android on Guest Networks.

Removed new firmware by uploaded older firmware and all devices and apps worked. No router reset required.
