Make an updated ISO of the LTSC

Is Microsoft Media Creation Tool suitable to create an updated ISO of a Windows LTSC if run on a system where the LTSC is installed?

    -------------------------------------------
    Windows LTSC 1890 (17763)

As you can read in this nice MS DOCS item about Servicing Channels: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem...on-to-the-ltsb, the LTSB is available only under volume license, and usually applies to organizations that have let their software assurance on Configuration Manager licenses lapse (look for the section "Licensing Overview for the LTSB").
As @NavyLCDR observed, this is not available via the MCT (though there are plenty of other places you can find it, most notably at uupdump.net and through HeiDoc.Net's Windows and Office ISO download tool.

I am not sure whether I can edit the original post, anyway I add here some clarifications.
My employer gave me a licenced ISO of Windows LTSC 1890 (17763), which I use on a virtual machine, as I am a Linux user. I have the habit of reinstalling my virtual machine every 3/4 months. The setup (assisted by a script) is very fast, but updating takes a considerable amount of time.
One solution is to ask for a fresher ISO (we have a subscription, assurance, or whatever is called), but the red tape for the ISO still exceeds the update overhead (assuming I get the proper version ISO, the key matches etc.).

Solutions I am exploring are: creating an updated ISO via MCT, downloading an LTSC somewhere from Microsoft and applying my key, integrating hotfixes into the original ISO, others you will suggest to me.

Ask your employer what you can do to update.

if you mean updated with patches then can use something like ntlite to integrate them. An actual newer base ISO wont be possible until the next LTSC is pushed out by microsoft.

Updating windows isnt like the old days where if you was a couple of years behind it was a 2 hour long patching session, now its done by cumulative patches which makes updating quick and easy even if the base ISO is a couple of years old like 1809 is.

Create a good solid base install. Use Macrium Reflect Free to store an image of that good base install. The next time you need to re-install the VM, instead of setting the Window installation ISO file as your DVD, you set a Macrium Reflect Rescue Drive ISO file as the DVD. Boot into Macrium Reflect, restore your last image file. Get the updates from Windows Updates and create a fresh base install image.

This also has the advantage of being able to include any apps/programs that you install every time in the base image.

I don't really get you. They are accounting clerks: after filling a number of forms I might have someone downloading the latest ISO from the Microsoft cloud. And I might even be lucky and they handle me an actual LTSC.

This is partly what I am doing. After the post-install update, I take a snapshot of the virtual disk. Then I start to install bloatware together with new updates. And I cannot separate the Windows patches from the rest.
I should perhaps apply a cumulative update to the LTSC ISO, but where do I get it?

    Will

    Dism /Add-Package <cumulative-patch>

work with the LTSC? And, if so, how do I find cumulative updates reliably? catalog.update.microsoft.com only lists LTSB.

    Please see the documentation here.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ws-updates-sxs

So basically first the image has to be mounted, just right click it and mount it.

Then e.g. if drive is E:

    Code:
    Dism /Add-Package /Image:"E:\" /PackagePath="windows10.0-kb4456655-x64_fca3f0c885da48efc6f9699b0c1eaf424e779434.msu"
As to where to get the updates.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...ws%2010%201809

I know it says LTSB, but if you check the left box you will see this as an example from the top box.

2021-01 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4598296)
The build is 1809 so that is a valid update to integrate.

    I hope this helps.
