    We couldn’t update system reserved partition” error installing Windows


    Hi, I tried following the windows support article (for MBR) to try and resolve the above issue so that updates to 1903 could be applied. At step 10 you are instructed to backup permission to the srp drive and ensure all files are shown as successful and none are failed. When I did this 1 file was shown as failed but there are no additional instructions as to what action to take if this occurs. Any advice?

    1) Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

    System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
    In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
    After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

    Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    5) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    6) sfc /scannow
    7) chkdsk /scan
    8) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    9) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
    10) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    11) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    12) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

    13) run setupdiag > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    14) Run HD Tune (free version) (all drives)

    Post images into the thread for results on these tabs:
    a) Health
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan


    15) Run Sea Tools for Windows

    Post an image of the test result into the thread

    16) Open disk management > by default some columns are compressed > widen each Status and Volume > make sure the contents within the parenthesis are in full view and that none of the characters are cutoff > view disk 0 > widen this row as needed so that all of the characters are in full view > post an image into the thread

    17) Download and install: Minitool Partition Wizard > post an image into the thread

    18) Download and install: Everything
    voidtools

    19) Launch the application and search for:
    folders:
    \$Windows.~bt\sources\panther
    \$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback
    \Windows\Panther
    \Windows\Panther\NewOS

    files:
    setupact
    setuperr

    20) post share links into the thread for these files (only folders/files related to the latest upgrade failure)
