    Update error (0x80073712)

Hello everyone, I just want to ask for your help regarding the Error code: (0x80073712). I cannot update my laptop because of this.

My current OS build is 17134.407
    Version: 1803
    OS: Windows 10 Pro
    Model: Lenovo T480

I just do not know why it won't update. It keeps saying that some update files are missing. The update it is currently trying to install is KB4503286. I tried manually installing updates, even earlier ones, by downloading from microsoft's website but that method won't work too. My firewall is already turned off when trying to update.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Give the following a try. Not the same failure code but this has fixed many different upgrade problems. Worth a try, won't hurt anything:

See the 2nd post by Andre Da Costa Microsoft MVP, in this thread:

Tried Everything. Can't Update Windows 10 Beyond v1709

    Press Windows key + X
    Click Command Prompt (Admin)
    Type the following command:
    rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll,RunDLL_PnpClean /DRIVERS /MAXCLEAN
    Hit Enter on your keyboard
    Exit command prompt
    Restart

If you have virtualization in the BIOS enabled, disable it then attempt the upgrade again.

Unfortunately, that one did not work. I am still getting the same error.

For failure to upgrade these are some options:

    1) perform a reset save files or reset save files equivalent (reinstall drivers and applications)
    2) perform a reset remove files or clean install (reinstall files, drivers an applications)
    3) troubleshoot the failed upgrade

    4) If you prefer option #3 then perform the following steps:

    5) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    6) sfc /scannow
    7) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    8) chkdsk /scan
    9) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    10) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    11) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

    12) Open disk management > by default some columns are compressed > widen each Status and Volume > make sure the contents within the parenthesis are in full view and that none of the characters are cutoff > view disk 0 > widen this row as needed so that all of the characters are in full view > post an image into the thread

    13) make a backup image using Macrium:

    14) Save the backup image to another disk drive (not to another partition on the same drive) or to the cloud.

    15) Make a new restore point:
