    Boot Issues

Running Windows 10 on an HP 8570p laptop. The boot options are wrong, and I have lost the bios password. It does not show a usb or cd for boot option. But it allows a EFI boot. What can I do? How can I create an EFI File to install another OS for dualboot? Or how can I force the laptop to boot into a usb? Thanks for any ideas.

    Hi gallicbear.

I watched a couple of videos on how to reset your forgotten bios password on an hp laptop(generic).
The link below seemed to work for a lot of hp laptop owners but not all.
entering "incorrect" (no quotes) 3 times or just hitting enter 5 times will produce a system disabled window with a key number.
It is case sensitive so write it down. No guarantees. It is supposed to be free. If it asks for money or any personal info, forget it, walk away.

You don't need any USB-Disk to install an OS.
    1. Create a Partition for the 2 nd OS.
    2. Make sure that the Recovery Environment is working and boot into Command Prompt.
    3. Map a network-drive with the mounted ISO and run the setup.
    4. You are ready.

I'm "assuming" that gallicbear can't get past the bios password before boot (bios boot password). If i'm misunderstanding then ignore my first reply.

If you have a Windows Installer USB Flash drive
Put that in your HP computer and Start it spamming the F9 Key or ESC you should get the one time Boot Menu where you can choose the flash drive to boot from.

Unless there is a Bios Password that you don't know?

    Thank you, all
spunk: That didn't work for me. Goes back to bios boot options.
fishingfool: No matter how I try entering anything for bios password, it does not give me an error code. Instead it presents me with the onscreen bios keyboard.
Pentagon: I had copied the extracted setup files from the iso into an empty partition, then I used the command prompt to run setup after reboot in the recovery environment. Gave me an error "The subsystem needed to support the image type is not supported".

No, now that you say that, it's 32 instead of 64. Thanks for noticing.

When you are in RE-Command Prompt you can run the setup also from USB.

    Example USB Drive letter (K:)

    in X:> type pushd K:
    K:> setup.exe
