I decided to "start" my office computer every morning, so the Action I choose was cmd.exe /c "exit", and this time it asked for the password?
Will report tomorrow. If it works I'll try the same thing on the shop computer.
Understood.
There's nothing wrong with doing that but I have not done it in parallel with you because I cannot work out any means of monitoring it.
I tested a similar one instead. It ran alright.
When?
- Creating the task?
- Running the task?
Please would you post a [partial] screenshot of the tasks General tab so I can see the settings.
Denis
You are logged in as Jim Allen?
Jim Allen is an Admin user?
TS asks for Admin permission to run when you start it?
Please don't complicate things by setting Run whether the user is logged in or not.
I used to get tied in knots when I tried to edit tasks that had Run with highest privileges set.
Denis
No, I set up the shortcut to always run as administrator. UAC is not used on this computer.
In that case I don't know how you can set up Run with highest privileges tasks in TS whilst avoiding password challenges.
I never run with UAC off so I don't know how to deal with that state.
About the only time I ever need to give Admin permission to proceed is when I'm assisting someone in a thread here. I doubt if I have to do this more than once a day for my own purposes.
@Paul Black - Can you help?
Best of luck,
Denis
I set up a new shops TS exactly like the office - set it run at 9 am - didn't get asked for a password and didn't get the error, will report tomorrow how it went.

Worked like a charm, the laptop was powered up, after logging in everything work as though I'd logged in 30 minutes before, all the Windows startup routines had run.
It was a long journey, but worth it, thanks so much for staying with it.
