Thumbnail previews of images inside folders?

In previous versions of Windows, if you set your view settings inside a folder to show icons as large icons, image files would show thumbnail previews as their icons. I've never been able to get Win10 to do this. Right now, if I set to large icons, I just get a large IrfanView icon for images.

Is there some way to get Win10 to show thumbnail previews as icons?

    Hi there

I once had problems with certain file extensions not displaying thumbnail previews.
BabelSoft Media Preview solved that for me and should fix your problem as well.
    Get it from here ...

When you open file explorer, go to "view" and then select "folder options" and then select the "view" tab.
in the "advanced settings" section under "files and folders" is the first setting "always show icons, never thumbnails" checked or unchecked?

Also under "settings" search for "performance options" and when the latter is open "visual effects" And make sure that in the list below at least the "show thumbnails instead of icons" is checked. I personally run mine in "best appearance" mode, thus all are checked.
