How do I see more than 10 thumbnail previews in the Taskbar?

    Hello Friends

    I'm on windows 10. Version 2004

I often have a lot of windows open of the same program at once, and I much prefer to see the thumbnail picture when I hover over the program in the Taskbar. After a certain number has been opened, the thumbnail previews change to a list preview. Which I hate. I have searched and searched and tried many guides online, without success.

    Please advise

Hi, this free reputable tweak tool seems to have the answer- always worth searching it for what it offers- many things in tutorials here are also implemented by this.

(Note - mouse over the preview list and you do see the corresponding window, but not all at once of course).

    Hi

thanks for the Reply. I tried the tool and increased the number of Thumnails in a group to 24. Restarted windows explorer but it didn't work. Not sure if I explained myself correctly. Say I have 15 PDFs open in Adobe, if I hover over the Adobe Icon in the Taskbar I want to see thumbnail previews of all 15 PDFs, and not a list view.

Might also enlarge the height of the Taskbar, give room for a second row.

I found the max number of explorer previews was 10.

Using that, I increased the number to 12 successfully.

Note, there is an option to restart explorer which you say you used.

Note further: as you can see, I'm using build 1903.

I didn't find a tenforums tutorial covering this point.

I chose to reduce it to 9. Here's Wordpad:

I get 16 by default without touching Winaero Tweaker...

Perhaps Windows is clever enough to work out you're using a humongous screen... or perhaps MS is being specially generous!
(This is a 14.1" laptop - mine was 10 by default).

You may be right! My laptop will show 12. (1920x1080, 125%dpi)

I've been having the problem on my 4k TV, when using a 225% DPI. Wonder if changing the DPI may fix the issue?

I would expect that to change the default. The number can be changed using the tweaker.
But maybe a TV is different in some way...
