Laptop frequently but irregularly locks up
Hi all,
Hoping someone might be able to provide some insight on an error I have been experiencing in windows 10 (build 19043).
My laptop has been regularly freezing (for around a week), without recovery. This is not a regular occurrence, as I can be stable for several hours or have several crashes within 5 minutes. This event seems to occur more frequently when certain games are running, but for others work just fine (fallout 4 seems particularly stable, for once! whereas aoe2hd crashes within minutes of starting a game), but the event sometimes occurs even with only Edge running 2 tabs.
I do not get a BSOD, however I cannot use the mouse or keyboard, and all audio stops (the video remains at whatever the screen was showing when the "crash" happens - so I end up having to reboot. Digging into error logs, I have found that the common factor seems to be 2 errors, both related to the same driver:
The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device:
a) HID\Vid_8087&Pid_0AC2\6&2a95915c&0&0000
b) PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_08A11028&REV_07\3&11583659&0&20
Chronologically, the PCI error occurs before the HID one in the log.
This doesn't seem to be a software related bug - since the machine has stopped when only the desktop was running - however a quick google suggests it may be a driver incompatibility issue? (I am not sure how to verify this, or what actions to take to resolve it if this is the case)
Actions already taken:
Virus scan (windows defender and malwarebytes)
I have run sfc /scannow, which initially found and corrected errors, but the problem has persisted (if less frequently). Further attempts to use sfc indicate no integrity violations exist.
I am sure more info on my system will be useful - but as I am not sure what info is useful, please just ask me!
Many thanks,
Update: I have since had a further crash, with only the PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_08A11028&REV_07\3&11583659&0&20 version of the error log occurring.
