windows 10 doesn't fully recognize/read contents of motorola phone

I have an issue with windows 10 not fully recognizing and reading the contents of my motorola phone.
Running Windows 10 version 2004 (OS build 19041.928) and have a moto g power phone.

Plugged in via usb cable phone shows up on windows explorer and device manager (drivers updated) but folder opens as blank.
Righ-clicking to look for pictures and videos comes up "no pictures or videos were found on this device". Again blank!

Why can't windoze 10 read the contents of my phone?

Thanks in advance for all help given!

    Hello @cedar,

[1] To narrow it down a bit, does the same problem occur if you try it on ANOTHER computer?
[2] Is it an Android Phone?

On my fairly recent Android Motorola you get a notification on the phone display when you connect USB to PC "Android System - Charging this device via USB" - click on the down arrow to the right of this & a further message "Tap for more options" appears - tap then select "file transfer". You should then be able to access phone internal storage or memory card using Win 10 File explorer.

    Hi,

as RQT states, connect you phone up, then something like settings/device connection/connection preferences/scroll and find USB connectivity--allow and that should do it, the procedure was something like that of one of my son's Motorola G phone all beit a while ago, when connecting it to his PC.

Paul Black, rqt, Jaylob4, thanks for replying.
When I plug my phone in via usb cable I get no pop-up or notification whatsoever, but I searched through my settings till I found the right one for using the usb cable for "file transfer" instead of "charging".
Now the contents have appeared in windows explorer so I think it should be good to go.

It's funny but this is my 1st Motorola.
Most all my other previous phones have been Samung's and I've never had this problem before.
I don't know why Motorola would turn off file transfer in the settings but I'll know from now on.

Each one of you three gave me advice that helped point me in the right direction so I thank each one of you very much!
