    @Ztruker

    I looked into the renaming process for Word; it seems pretty complicated. I'm afraid that if I try to rename it, I will mess something up and not be able to get it back to what I now have. Furthermore, I don't know if renaming will fix the current problem.

    I think that I will just live with the present situation: when two blank documents are created, I'll just continue to delete one of them.

    Thanks for your input on this.

    Reading more on this it may be a good idea not to mess with it:

    Note: This will cause you to lose any default font or margin settings and may affect other installed toolbars.

    Found this, worth looking at:

    - click on the "Office Button" (top left)
    - word options
    - add-ins
    - manage com add-ins
    - go

    If you see anything there you may want to disable it even if temporarily to see if this resolves the issues. Note you need to be logged on as administrator to disable/enable the add-ins.

    @Ztruker

    - Open Word
    - word options
    - add-ins
    - manage Com Add-ins (at bottom)
    - Go

    There were no entries under the "Manage Com Add-ins." I clicked on Go, and then opened up a Blank Word Document. The first time, I get just one; however, the next time, I get two.

    Thanks for the follow-up.

    Maybe time to post this in Microsoft Office and 365 forum? Open a new thread there and add a link to this one.
