User guide says to press F2 when the ACER logo appears. The ACER logo doesn't appear at boot. I've tried pressing F2 anyway but no biios screen...
That 'ACER logo doesn't appear at boot' doesn't sound right, it should appear.

It may be that it is actually trying to appear and you are getting into the BIOS, but the way your monitor is connected or the machine is set up is preventing you seeing it.

The User Manual says, under Frequently Asked Questions.

    Nothing appears on the screen....
    • The brightness level might be too low. Press <Fn> + < > (increase) to adjust the brightness level.
    • The display device might be set to an external monitor. Press the display toggle hotkey <Fn> + <F5> to toggle the display back to the computer.

Pressing escape on some will get you the boot menu.

Forever - or at least until I hit the power button for a hard off. Then hit again to start.

I've let it hang for a half-hour or so.
What about a different keyboard? Could be that your computer doesn't register the current one on time after turning the computer on.

Pop the Hard drive out whilst shes off.
Then turn her on again. It cant load Windows and then see what she does. She cant get out of this that easily

I doubt that a connected storage medium blocks the BIOS from starting.

    It's not a notebook, it's a desktop.

    You are right, it shouldnt.
For troubleshooting i would go back to when you first build a PC. On first startup dont connect anything, apart from screen and keyboard.
Remove all front panel USB connectors from board, front audio. Anything else connected in back which isnt necessary. Remove sound cards, graphics cards if possible. Eliminates any other conflicts that could stop basic bootup. Worth a try i reckon.

I'm suspecting it has to do with a faulty ram. A computer can't boot to BIOS without it, if at all.

If all else fails get the PS2 keyboard out. Thats if you have a port at the back. Then you can rule out if the USB is being disabled briefly on POST screen.
Next I would goto the Control Panel and 'Language' settings. Make sure all your keyboard settings are linked to your Country and format. Try that, not many things left

If that fails i would just take the battery out of the motherboard for a couple of minutes. This will get things back to default ish. Hard drive boot selection may have to be adjusted after this and not a problem to sort out.

If it still doesnt work after the battery removal perhaps you could try another graphics card slot on the motherboard, thats if you have one of course. Good luck on this
