Windows 10 laptop randomly shuts downs or sleeps

My mom has an HP Pavilion dv7-6185us laptop with the latest Win10 Home installed. She uses it to do her accounting work. We didn't use it before (had an HDD and RAMs missing), but a month ago I got two RAM sticks and an SSD on a deal, assembled them to the laptop and installed Win10, activated it with a valid license and it was good to go. It has been a week or so that the laptop shuts down or goes to sleep unexpectedly. It happens very randomly. I once left it turned on for 5 hours next to my PC and nothing happened, but other times it shuts down while mom is working on it, or within hours of being turned on, happens randomly. I've Googled around common solutions and changed power settings etc. on Windows but it doesn't seem like to help. Is there a software to record the PC running and when it shuts down it can tell me the reason why it shut down?

Sounds like it is overheating. Hardware can die unexpectedly.

Thank you for your response. How can I isolate the issue and know it's over-heating exactly?

With that age of a laptop, invest in a newer machine. Only thing that you can do when this happens is either replace the motherboard or put that money towards a newer machine.

    Please perform the following steps:

    1) There are log collectors used in another forum room.
Run each V2 and DM and upload results into this thread:
    BSOD - Posting Instructions

    2) Find a flash drive

    3) Find a camera or smartphone camera

    4) Download and install onto the flash drive: HP Diagnostics UEFI
    https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/.../pc-diags.html

    4) Run the hardware testing overnight in extensive mode (loop until failure)
The next AM make sure that it has made at least 2 loops > click esc > run component tests as needed

    5) The HP diagnostics UEFI can also be downloaded and installed on the computer. It will not be installed in C:. Instead it will be installed in the EFI or system reserved partition. The flash drive is preferred.

    6) Take pictures of the results > post images into the thread
