Excellent news! If it resurfaces, I'd try something to do with the Power arrangements (Sleep, Hibernation, Blank Screens and so on) cos that seems to have been the solution for me.

Noted! The only things I have enabled are Sleep and turning off the screen; but I will keep this in mind

And I got three Host errors today!! Two associated with logons - although I now have another suspect lurking in the shadows that I'm looking at. But thankfully, your errors are solved.

Mine are defying a resolution at the moment :) !!!

I just got another error this morning! However, this was right when I installed the Cumulative update that came out. ESENT errors aren't showing up, so I'm going to try the sfc method again in the morning to see if anything comes up for the scan.

I'm guessing something must've changed. AGAIN!!! The sfc method will probably not show anything up - that would be my guess. I've been able to identify a few more causes of the error so perhaps it's one of those?

btw, did you know that the 1903 version you run in the US is different to the 1903 version in the UK? A friend and I were comparing notes and some screen in Settings are very different. I have access to 3 laptops here and each one here was different to your version over there.

You were right, sfc did not turn anything up. I guess I'll just wait to see if that pattern repeats, or it this is a one-time thing.

I manually installed the update and it threw up an error - just as you said. And this was after I got another Host error that seemed related to a logon onto something online.

I've taken another user's advice and used the Media Creation Tool to 'Update To The Latest Version' and selected to keep all my settings and Apps. He did this and seems to have eradicated the problem.

I thought that it would mean I'd have to reinstall the programs as well as Apps but it was rather impressive. I didn't try it without first backing up all my data.

Took 2 hours, though!

I won't be happy if this is the way the bi-annual updates go from now on - oh, and I got the errors with scannow again (which I've left for the time being) and had to manually create the folders for the ESENT files.

Now I'm just running it to see what happens.

I would seriously consider using the Media Creation Tool to update to the latest version of Windows - and then choose to keep all files and apps (by which they mean programs and apps).

Of course, all data and programs would still have to be backed up as these things can go very wrong, very quickly.

But it was what I decided to do in the end - every time I was able to work out a source of the errors, another would raise its head so I put a day to one side in readiness for a complete disaster with Media Creation Tool but, thankfully, it was just the two hours and it worked perfectly.

But I still wouldn't trust MCT.

Yeah Idk if I want to go through all that hassle for something that's just more of an annoyance at this point. Performance isn't affected so I'll probably just live with it at this point
