No longer works with iOS 11, since Apple has tighten security controls. The OP has to use a third party software to get into the hidden folders on iOS to recover those files.

I know that when folder is optimized to be 'Pictures' (in the Properties>Customize tab) it loads slowly. For example the Download folder would low very slowly if it's not set to be "General items"
