Just installing DirectX 12 doesn't mean your fully DirectX 12 capable. Or even 11 capable. The hardware has to support it too. If the hardware only supports the features of DirectX 10, that's all you'll get.
I never actually installed any of the DirectX versions, they must be getting updated automatically through Windows update. So how do I know what version my laptop really supports? Is there anything I can do at this point? Thanks.
Run dxdiag, then go to the Display tab and look at the Feature levels on the right side. Mine says Geforce Gt 640 on the left for Chip type and 11_0, 10_1, 10_0 etc for feature level. I am good for Direct X 11 but not 12.
Well this is weird. I posted my feature levels yesterday, you can see 11 wasn't in there, but today this is showing up, 11 version is in the feature levels yet my Nvidia graphics aren't selected on the left, even though it is under my Nvidia control panel. I still can't buy anything from the store. Why has my feature levels changed overnight?
Also have this if its of any help.
Yeah I don't have a clue at this point, I give up lol.
Store is looking at the capabilities of the onboard GPU ? Have You updated the Intel drivers ? Or rolling back ? Don't know Your laptop model but on My G780 I can't lock in the Discrete card, only integrated or switchable.
EDIT: Google to see if the Intel 3000 supports DX11
Looks like I'm out of luck. According to this guy DX11 doesn't support Intel 3000. But I have Nvidia GT555M. Shouldn't the store look at that graphics?

You'll need to post your Make and exact Model number of the laptop. Some are capable of locking in the discrete card as default but most aren't. It still may be possible to remove the Intel drivers and force it to use the NVidia. Problem with that is You'll be using it all the time for everything. Don't know how important battery life is to you ?
You could also try (not sure if it'll work) hooking a external monitor and making it the default display and that should make the discrete card default ? Try downloading the game and it might play at the DX10 ?? Just not sure
