    Can't link PS4 bluetooth controller

So I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse that has it's own bluetooth dongle

I was told this dongle would be able to be utilized to also link my new PS4 controller

But I seem to be having issues with the dongle seeing this controller, or even a bluetooth headset I was trying to pair

So I'm going to assume there is something going on with the dongle

Do I in fact need a separate bluetooth dongle for this? Or can I somehow force the microsoft one to pair to other bluetooth devices?

I'm inside of WIndows Settings>Devices>Add Device>Bluetooth and it scans but sees nothing

Perhaps the dongle for the microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse is a wifi dongle and not bluetooth? How can I tell?

    I found pairing a PS4 controller hit & miss & I have a laptop with Bluetooth.
I had to use a cable to connect then once done put the DS4 in pairing mode & then Bluetooth saw it (while connected via cable).
I also use DS for Windows.

Most likely it is a USB Wireless set, several makes and models available. Bluetooth doesn't usually have a dongle unless there is no Bluetooth already in the computer, most Notebooks have it as part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter. If needing Bluetooth on a Desktop one can get a dongle for it such as offered by IOGEAR. The adapter is also usable on Notebooks that didn't come with Bluetooth but a big advantage of built-in Bluetooth is in freeing up a USB port, important when only 2 USB ports are available. Wireless adapters are usually optional on a Desktop [my ASUS has it] and Bluetooth may or may not be part of it.

To see if you have Bluetooth right-click the Start button, click Device Manager, should get something like this:

Ok I checked that Device Manager and do not see a Bluetooth tab. So I'm going to guess the dongle with the keyboard is wifi & not bluetooth.

I've found a BT dongle on amazon for like $10-$15. I'll order it up tonight and try connecting the controller again. I'll post back if I continue to have any problems.

I'll download DS4windows if the controller doesn't link up when I get the new dongle.

    Thanks everyone!

DS4windows will allow you to set the DS4 as a xBox controller for use with Steam. It’s how I use it.

Ahh ok. I don't know if I'm going to use Steam or not. I'm probably just going to download CyberPunk directly from CDRed since they'll get 100% of the money.

The only other game I really play is Destiny with my buddy, which I'll end up doing on a PS5 at some point.

I have thought about downloading the new 4k Ages of Empires series, I was always a big fan of that game! But that's more of a keyboard & mouse game.

So I'm hoping to keep the controls as Playstation's setup so that my muscle memory is better for when I switch over to play Destiny. I've also thought about playing Destiny on my computer, but I really only play it with my buddy and he's die hard Playstation.

DS4 Windows should work, in any case it’s a free download so you can try it.
