New SSD installed Disk Management won’t show “Initialise Disk”

Any reason why when I’ve installed a new SSD that this management doesn’t show initialise? I’m new to Windows 10 in the new to Windows, but from what I can do when your right click on the new SSD, you should see uninitialised desk? After googling, I can see that you have to be in an administrator account open which I am?

    Hello @Thecount,
    Welcome to TenForums.

As a start, please post a screenshot of your Disk Management.

Make sure that ALL the text in ALL the columns is visible and showing the whole window.

Now UPLOAD a screenshot of your partitions using one of the following methods . . .

    > How to Post a Screenshot of Disk Management
    > How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

    I hope this helps.

You will only be asked to initialize a drive if it is clean (only one unallocated space ). If it doesn't ask it's because it has already been initialized as MBR or GPT.
If you want to change from MBR to GPT or from GPT to MBR all you have to do is to delete all partitions and it will ask to initialize the drive

Thanks. But how do I get it to show on my machine? I see my original C: is showing the existing SSD but this new one I installed isn’t showing? Only the original SSD is showing under the Local Disk (C:)

Sorry, I am nee to windows - I have been a max user for 25 years - this is my 12yr old son’s windows machine and I was trying to help him as he needed another drive as he couldn’t run all the games he wanted.

The drive must have a letter assigned to it to show on explorer.
    Follow this instructions.

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:

    diskpart
list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the new drive number. Be very carefully to not select the main drive )
select disk n (replace n by the new drive number obtained with list disk)
    clean
    convert gpt
    create part primary
    select part 1
    format fs=ntfs quick
    assign
    exit (to exit diskpart)

brilliant, this worked perfectly! see attached. I wonder why it wasn't allowing my to use the right click Initialise?

Also, i have found another Disk 1 (Disk 0) was the original one. But this Disk 1 claims to be a 1TB? Theres no phisical SSD in there? any idea where this has come up from?

Drive one is very strange. It has a F: partition 931G and a partition 2 RAW also of 931G.

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:

    diskpart
    select disk 1
    list part
    exit

    Post the results here.
