    Synapticss SMBus Touchpad.

In Windows 10 1903 the latest driver date 7/24/2019, driver version 19.5.35.46 no longer has checkbox to disable touchpad, older version did. Is there a hack to disable touchpad?

    Possibilities:
Disable Touchpad when Mouse is Connected in Windows 10
Disable touchpad in Windows 10 Home
I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

You could use an older driver and hide (block) the installation of the later one.

Option 1 was the older driver, new driverno longer has it. None of the free tools worked. My goal is for the touchpad not to work at all. My problem is twofold, one I do not like/need touchpad, the other is my wrist always ends up on the pad or brushing against it, causing unattended actions to happen.

    Thank you for your reply.

Did you try disabling it in Device Manager as in post #5 in this that I quoted?

    Rather dramatic, in my view.

Disable option greyed out, did roll back driver, but next update will reinstall new driver. under installed updates I see where the new driver was installed, but do not see n option to prevent it from installing again.

    Thank you for your reply.

You can block/hide a particular update (Tutorial available in tutorials section). Also some 3rd party tools do the same thing more neatly e.g. WUMGR.

There is no option to prevent it from installing again in the Device Manager- wrong place.

If you disable the touchpad there (not the update...) you should not need to worry about driver updates.

Go in to the Touchpad settings > Pointing > Sensitivity > move the slider to right(Heavy Touch).
    That essentially switches it off.
I have nominally the same Synaptics SMBus Touch pad, driver 19.4.3.38 (2017) was installed by Windows 10 updates a while back, nothing newer in the 1903 Win 10 version update.

Solved, rolled back driver, disabled touchpad. Before running update went to control panel>system>advanced>hardware>device installation and checked no. Ran update and did not install newer driver.

Update: this latest driver does have a Synaptics app in the start menu. It has the option to disable touchpad. Not in the control panel anymore.
