Thanks zbook. I will get that done and report back.
Hi zbook. Here are the results of the requested tests, except for the Sea Tools long test, which I will do overnight and post the results tomorrow. I did the Sea Tools short test and and it said all was good.
1) When available update the thread with Sea Tools testing results.
2) Check the notebook for dust.
3) Make sure fans are working.
4) Choose one of the temperature monitoring software applications: Speecy, HW monitor, Speed fan:
Speccy - Free Download - Piriform: Speccy - System Information - Free
Download Speccy | Find your computer specs, free!

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

5) For startup and recovery system failure
a) change kernel to automatic
b) reboot to maintain settings
6) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
chkdsk /r /v
This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /r /v C: or chkdsk /r /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.
C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /r /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
Type: Y
reboot
7) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer. Copy and paste into notepad > save to desktop > post into the thread using one drive or drop box share link:

Hi zbook. I've followed your latest instructions and have attached the results. thanks for your patience.
The HD Sentinel temperature tab was not displayed.
The maximum temperature recorded was 61 degrees with a current temperature of 37 degrees.
When HD Tune testing was performed the temperature was 61 degrees.
Chkdsk performed cleaning.
Hi zbook. Not sure what you mean - the HD Sentinel tab is displayed in one of the images above.
And what do you mean by Chkdsk performed cleaning?
I had HD Sentinel running before I started this thread and it gave me the same results as the ones I've posted after you suggested I run it again. I'm not sure why the HD Tune gave that 61 degrees figure, because the laptop didn't feel particularly warm. I googled the HD Tune airflow temp thing and it seems others have had similar results to me, with everything fine but the airflow temp ( [Solved] HD Tune airflow temperature - Overclock.net - An Overclocking Community ),
It was displayed and read.
That was an error.
Find a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread.
Connect all drives to the computer.
Open the BIOS and check to see if all drives are displayed > post an image into the thread
Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > expand disk drives > post an image into the thread.
Open file explorer > this PC > view devices and drivers > post an image into the thread
Open disk management > by default some columns are compressed > widen each Status and Volume > make sure the contents within the parenthesis are in full view and that none of the characters are cutoff > view disk 0 > widen this row as needed so that all of the characters are in full view > post an image into the thread
