    Windows 10 Navigation

I keep finding myself in a situation from which the only route to my top ribbon icons such as Gmail or Facebook appears to be via the Search icon

I think you need to explain further as Windows 10 doesn't have a top ribbon.

    DonJuan,

    I agree with NMI.

Post a screenshot showing it. That's probably the quickest way to resolve the matter.
["Ribbon" normally refers to the thing in an application that we used to call a Toolbar.]

Good idea, many thanks. However, it seems that I can only attach files up to 2 MB but my screenshot is 3.45

Take a Screen Snip with Snip and Sketch in Windows 10

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

    - or use one of the many free screenshot tools - Duckcapture, Greenshot

Cameras are only needed for times when Windows isn't running - e,g, the BIOS- assuming you're using a camera.

And then there is free software and there are online sites for resizing pictures.

BMP files are BIG. Use jpg or png

Thanks for your help, everybody. Although indirectly, you have enabled me to resolve my query.
