Folder settings changed after 1909 update

So i've finally updated to 1909 from 1809 and i used to folder view settings backup tool on this website however when i go to restore the settings nothing changes. Example my downloads folder remained group. Other folders that were full of pictures stay in detailed mode instead of changing to large icons like they were on previous installation.

Have you looked at this? => Set Default Folder View for all Folders in Windows 10

    I hope this helps.

Thats not exactly what i was after, i used this
Backup and Restore Folder View Settings in Windows 10
thinking that my folder settings for the folders i used would be saved and restored when i used that. Like downloads which normally get grouped again after updating would go back to being ungrouped like i normally have it instead of manually having to go through every folder again. I could be mistaken if that's what that was supposed to do but yeah, not really looking forward to going through everything again. I think its even mentioned in the link you just put there

    Hello @MajorFoley,

If you have a System Image I think there is a way to retrieve the previous folder settings. I am not sure if it is held in a REG file or something else.

    I hope this helps!

I do on my external and i can just revert as i did it today so i still have the option to revert for like 7 days. But i thought that batch tool was what it does? Edit the registry so it changes such settings.

I will have a look for you to see if you can mount the image and extract the required settings.

The image file you are referring to is the MS Windows.old file. For future reference, it maybe best to use an imaging program like Macrium Reflect [ FREE ] which is highly recommended here on the TenForums and gives you additional options.

Which batch file tool are you referring to?

    I hope this helps.

    Hello @MajorFoley,

Have a look at this by @Try3 => How to Backup and restore Default folder views.

Maybe you could perform this on the image rather than reverting the whole OS back!

I have used it and it worked very well on a LIVE OS, so maybe it is possible to use it OFFLINE.

    I hope this helps.

You are reading it perfectly correctly.
    - It is a method for backing up & restoring the default folder view settings for each folder type.
    - It has nothing to do with restoring individual folder view settings.
