    BSOD Code 116 & 141 - CPU replacement needed?

    Hi!

My PC has started with random freezes, reboots and BSOD. It's about 4-5yrs old and haven't really had any issues until recently.

    ASUS Deskmini 110
    Intel Celeron G3930
    Intel HD Integraded Graphics 610
    12GB DDR4
    Windows 10 Pro 22H2

The BSOD and associated minidump indicate 'Hardware Faults':

    Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
    Code: 141
    Parameter 1: ffffbe0fd70ee460
    Parameter 2: fffff8026fac67b0
    Parameter 3: 0
    Parameter 4: 4cc
    Version OS: 10_0_19045
    Servicepack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1
    Version OS: 10.0.19045.2.0.0.256.48
    Country-id: 1043

    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    Code: 116
    Parameter 1: ffffbe0fe8e83450
    Parameter 2: fffff8026fac51b0
    Parameter 3: ffffffffc0000001
    Parameter 4: 3
    Version OS: 10_0_19045
    Servicepack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1
    Version OS: 10.0.19045.2.0.0.256.48
    Country-id: 1043

The BSOD Debug details consistantly point to an issue with the Graphics Card Driver:

    VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffff8487beaec010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff805467f6050, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).
Arg3: ffffffffc0000001, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 0000000000000004, Optional internal context dependent data.

    Debugging Details:
    ------------------

Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iigd_dch.inf_amd64_0f12908b4ff13ff7\igdkmd64.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for igdkmd64.sys
*** WARNING: Unable to verify checksum for win32k.sys

I have tried the Intel DDU tool to remove the GPU driver and re-install. The Intel Graphics driver is currently at version 31.0.101.2115

I've ran the MemTest86 diagnostics tool 8 consecutive times (2x 4). Zero errors founds.

I've ran Pime95 for ~1.5 hours, without failures.

I've ran FurMark and it consistantly fails within the first 3mins or so.

Am I looking at a failing GPU? It's integrated into the CPU, so if so I guess a CPU replacement is in order?

The 0x116 bugcheck indicates that Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) failed to successfully reset the graphics card and driver when a graphics hang occurred. The cause is either a flaky driver or a flaky graphics card.

Since you're using the Intel iGPU in your Celeron CPU the only way to check is to download the Intel Driver and Support Assistant and see whether that finds driver updates for your iGPU (and any other Intel devices - especially chipset drivers).

If that doesn't find a driver that stops the BSODs then I'd agree that a CPU replacement is your best option.

    Thank you @ubuysa

Great suggestion, and that's exactly what I did a couple days ago. The assistant gives a clean bill of health with all drivers up-to-date:

It might be cheaper to get a dedicated graphics card. A really low end (and cheap) one would do.

It’s a barebones system. Mini-ITX sized. No room for a graphics card unfortunately. I’ll get a new CPU and see what the outcome is.
