[BSOD] My new dell laptop crashes in the first 24 hours

    Hi everyone,

My dell laptop crashes [BSOD] constantly every 10 minutes or so. I am not sure if its a hardware or a software issue. I am using Windows 10 Pro, and I installed all the new Microsoft updates.

Please check attached log from the "Beta Log collector". Thanks.

    Hi mohammed1,

Welcome to the Ten Forums BSOD forum.

Brand new computers should not have BSOD.
It takes time to troubleshoot and is best to contact the store or DELL to get a return merchandise authorization (RMA)

The brand new computer did not come with the latest version of Windows.
    Code:
             Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)
The computer has Windows version 1803 and the current version of Windows is 1809.

Windows updates were performed and there was no automatic upgrade to Windows 1809.

Problematic drivers are the most common cause of BSOD but BSOD can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.

There were no mini or memory dump files to debug.

If you prefer to troubleshoot rather than return the computer please communicate that into the thread.

These would be the early steps:

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) wmic RecoverOS set AutoReboot = False
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    7) Find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB)
    8) Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:
Download Windows 10 ISO File | Tutorials
    Download Windows 10

    Code:
    Event[1135]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: volmgr
      Date: 2019-02-07T07:56:28.112
      Event ID: 161
      Task: N/A
      Level: Error
      Opcode: N/A
      Keyword: Classic
      User: N/A
      User Name: N/A
      Computer: DESKTOP-2J7R08R
      Description:
Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.

Thank you very much for your reply. I had a dell laptop from the same store 2 weeks ago, and it had a hardware issue. They replaced it with a new laptop (this laptop), but again it gives BSOD. Therefore, I will try to troubleshot it before I try to return it again.

I did the same steps you provided, here is the output:

Thank you zbook. I will reformat the windows and see if it gets fixed. Do you recommend
    - Downloading & installing the Windows 10 Pro 1809 ISO using Media Creation Tool
    OR
    - I reformat it using the OEM version in my laptop then I update it from 1803 to 1809 using this link Download Windows 10 ?

The in place upgrade repair allows an upgrade without having to reinstall drivers and applications.
This method of upgrade also should allow the retention of files.

In contrast the clean install will require the re-installation of drivers and applications and the backup of files.

The purpose of the in place upgrade repair is to see if it fixes the failure to create dump files.
If you perform a clean install it should not only fix that but also any software or drivers that may cause BSOD.
If there is malfunctioning hardware then this is not fixed by a clean install.

This link is used to create a Windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10

Once the Windows 10 iso is created it can be used to:
    a) perform an in place upgrade repair
    b) perform a clean install
    c) perform a custom install
    d) repair operating system corruption
    e) repair component store corruption
    f) repair drive file system corruption
    g) repair failure to boot
    etc.

The iso can be downloaded to the desktop or to a flash drive.
The flash drive can be a bootable or non-bootable flash drive.
The most options are with a bootable Windows 10 iso created from the Microsoft website.
So when the troubleshooting has completed you can keep the iso for any future troubleshooting.
Alternatively you can make a new iso when the next version of Windows is released in March/April (1903).

At this time you can perform an in place upgrade repair.
If more needs to be done then you can use the same iso for a clean install.
