Where does Edge store URL information when a site is stored as an app
Where does Edge store URL information when a site is stored as an app?
A client of mine uses edge browser and has a few of his most visited websites installed as an app accessible via an icon on the desktop. Most of them are news streaming sites, i.e. USTVGO, USTV247, etc. You select to one of their life streams and then save it "as an app". You can place the icon on the desktop and when you click on it the relevant/selected streaming site opens.
They all work fine except for one. USnewsON, (USNewsON - Watch USA TV Live Streaming Free)
When you select/switch to one of their life streams and then save it "as an app", when used thereafter it defaults back to the homepage unlike like all others.
I don't use edge but I tried it on my system and I experienced the same issue.
Try it for yourself go to the above-mentioned website, (USNewsON - Watch USA TV Live Streaming Free) scroll down to "Recommended Live Stream" news sites (i.e. OAN One America News Network - Watch OANN Live Streaming Free [HD] - USNewsON and then save it off as an "app".
Save your link/icon i.e. on the desktop.
Next time you want to restart it via the icon the website does not go to the selected streaming link but defaults to the home address USNewsON - Watch USA TV Live Streaming Free.
Only this website USnewsON does that. No issue with any other streaming site.
Where does edge store the links, besides from useless uninformative (%localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Web Applications) ?
The shortcut properties of the link show as target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge_proxy.exe" --profile-directory=Default --app-id=ocimhcmlhkneojkehjppgdleilpoplpb --app-url=https://usnewson.com/watch/USnewsON-live-stream-usa --app-launch-source=4
The app id being the folder name in (%localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Web Applications)
