    Managing the Chrome toolbar

Has anyone else noticed the erratic toolbar icon behavior since Chrome included that static "Extensions" toolbar button on the right?

Random buttons are prone to involuntarily change positions or are removed from the toolbar altogether (not the drop down menu), even tho their setting is "pinned". If you want to get that button back on the toolbar, it must first be "unpinned", and then pinned once again.

Once it is pinned, it is place next to the 'Extensions" button. As you try to move it, a location is created six or seven spaces down the line to the left. Afterwards, If you want to move it backwards to the right, anywhere before that point, you can't, unless you perform multiple manipulations of multiple toolbar buttons, or unpin and re-pin the button once again, whereupon you must once again engage in this ridiculous exercise.

Am I missing something? Doing something wrong? Is there an extension that will help?

Something doesn't sound correct with your Chrome installation. Do you use any extensions yourself?

What I would do is ensure that your Google account is synced with your browser settings, favorites, and passwords. Then, I would do a clean removal of Chrome and reinstall the latest version.

    I use portableapps.

I'm not quite clear on what you mean by "Do you use any extensions yourself?" I have extensions. I use them.

I just created a fresh portable install of Version 88.0.4324.190 (Official Build) (64-bit). As with the previous installs, I am signed and synced. All extensions updated.

That visual portion of the Chrome toolbar fills up pretty quickly. Please describe what to expect behaviorally when the natural overflow of excess buttons occurs in the "Extensions" drop down menu, i.e., when you pin an item on that list to an already full toolbar, what happens?

I use Chromium portable as well (not a portableapps creation, but the only difference really is that Chrome is located in the portableapps platform, and Chromium other is not.). They sync with each other. Chromium behaves exactly the same as the Chrome setup.
