Windows crashes when attempting to load web pages

Up until a short time ago, I was able to use MS Edge normally, Then, on occasion, it would crash Windows when I tried to access a web page, even though the browser had launched with no messages or warnings.

The frequency of the crashes increased until I got fed up and installed Google Chrome. That worked fine - for a few weeks. Then it started crashing Windows just like Edge had been doing.

All other applications run normally, including heavy-duty AAA games. There are no warnings or error messages of any kind displayed at any time. Launch browser - click on link - Windows crashes. Task Manager inoperable. Hard (power switch) power off.

Hi, let's try a couple of basic checks.

Please create a new user for test purposes. Log in as that user, then try browsing. Report the result.

Return to your original user. Perform a clean boot (Google or see tutorial if needed). try browsing. Report the result.

Look at your Reliability History. Explore red x's related to browser crashes. Post what is shown.

    Thanks.

    Not much to report

After clean boot, tried browsing as both users.

While I was able to browse a number of sites, a particular site that I have frequently visited in the past still
crashed Windows. This web page is where I first experienced the OS crashes.

The Reliability Report was not helpful. Just a bunch of "Windows did not shut down properly" alerts.

After starting up again, did some more browsing and had no problems. Went back to the problem web site and
it took slightly longer to crash this time. However - and this is something I've never seen before - my PC restarted
without any further action on my part.

Please reboot into safe mode using shift + restart if the following steps do not complete with normal boot:

OK, I've run the command line instructions as shown.

My apologies for the text file - I'm not proficient with Windows command line or Safe Mode. I'm more of a Unix/Linus guy.

Working on the log files now.

If I'm in Safe Mode, I don't think I can navigate to a web site, since there's no network adapter in service - right?
Anyway, I did manage to launch Notepad, for which I was grateful, and that's better than nothing.
I saved the .txt file to Desktop and restarted in Normal mode and came back here to attach it.

Anything saved to the desktop or notepad can be saved to a flash drive.
The flash drive can then be moved to a computer with internet access and then uploaded into the thread.

Safe mode has options for networking and command prompt.
Typically Ethernet is the easier option.

    These are safe mode options:

    1) Search for: C:\windows\memory.dmp > save to downloads folder > post a share link into the thread

    Code:
    LastWriteTime Size (MB) FullName

    The logs displayed BSOD.
The last BSOD was on 2020-08-09 15:38:52
The last collected mini dump file was on: 2020-07-12

    2) Find replacement drives then uninstall and reinstall these drivers.
Whenever possible install drivers displayed on the motherboard manufacturer's website followed by Windows updates.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-8d22254aa1c1

    a) netr28ux.sys
    802.11ac Wireless LAN Card

    b) cfosspeed6.sys
    asus\turbo lan

    3) The BIOS: Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 1004, 11/14/2017
Upgrade the BIOS: 1004 > to the most up to date non-beta BIOS: Version 3006 2020/02/14
    TUF X299 MARK 1 Driver & Tools | Motherboards | ASUS USA

    4) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting

    5) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

    6) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    chkdsk /r /v
This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /r /v C: or chkdsk /r /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /r /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

    7) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer.
Copy and paste into notepad > save to desktop > post into the thread using a one drive, drop box, or google drive share link:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10

    8) For any BSOD:

    a) run the V2 log collector to collect new log files

    b) open file explorer> this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
    > if the file size is < 1.5 GB then zip > post a separate share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    More surprises

Logged in as Administrator to perform the tasks outlined by zbook (above)

    1) Tried to re-run the bcdedit (using the correct syntax this time) and got this:
    C:\Windows\System32>bcdedit /enum {badmemory}
The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
    Access is denied.

    2) Discovered a couple of Windows Updates that had not been installed. Downloaded and installed, BSOD with error code WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR
Computer restarted normally, Windows Updates now shows "Up to Date"

Before I continue with the tasks as set out, is there anything I should do about these?
