How do I save files in a certain place?

So I very recently asked this same question and it was solved but now I'm having a little trouble again. Since I updated Microsoft Edge, I'm not able to save files in a certain place when first downloaded. I would have to wait till it's downloaded and then move it into my designated folder. I'm a programmer and I like to keep my files organized and every time I download a file it would automatically just save to my "documents" folder and not ask me where do I want to save that file. I already tried switching on "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option on Microsoft edge, and it worked for a little while but then it stopped.

My windows version number is 18362.778

Hi TypicalABBIE. Welcome to the TenFourms @TypicalABBIE

It appears this is a bug as documented near the end of this thread. Mine doesn't have this issue, yet. I tried several files. My default browser is Chrome so maybe I just haven't used enough.

I would log issue on Feedback Hub. Maybe someone else has started ticket and you can up vote.

Perhaps I'm missing something but all you have to do is change the location to a place of your choosing. You can than turn off "Ask where to save files before downloading". That's what I'm doing. My downloads go to F:\IE Downloads. Simple.

The issue is you have ask... turned on. It should be Off.

Sounds like you are just changing the default.

If OP is doing what I do I steer each download into its own location. So when I download bank statement it is saved directly in bank folder in appropriate year.

I then might download a file like Teamviewer, so I steer that into the teamviewer folder in my software downloads.

So every file you download you place it directly into its final end state location.

It's either or... either you want to be asked for each location, or you want a standard location. It can't be both. For me everything goes into my designated folder - F:\Downloads. From there I either delete the file when no longer needed or move it at a later date.

That said, I think I get the point now... the OP wants to be asked each time they download a file as to where it should go.

My Firefox defaults are set to Save to the designated Downloads folder on my second partition but for things like images on Web pages I right-click them and choose Save as.... then point to one of my NAS drives.

Yes, he wants to be asked as do I. File it when you receive it.

In that link I provided others are complaining of same error so its a bug. Something MS has done within all their customizations.

I use and download in Chrome. I haven't had an issue. Writing this will no doubt curse me and chrome will fail.

So for clarity, the issue is the "Ask" feature is not working all the time?

I don't use it, I just have everything go to one folder and move from there at a later date. Something I've been doing forever.
