When I run Netflix on Edge browser (and) then I switch to full screen mode ...(I see a) black screen...
Hi, the very first time afer I logged in and selected a film and then switched to full screen I saw this
    microsoft edge problem-untitled.png

    - note the message at the bottom - do you see that yourself?
I responded and the film began to play.

Thereafter I could switch readily with no prompt from full screen and back again.

Now whether the black picture there was just coincidental- right at the start of the film- I couldn't say.
    That's on my Lenovo laptop.

What is your Windows build? Do you see different behaviour with another browser?

    Apparently IE might do that.

    • Microsoft Edge: Up to 4K (requires HDCP 2.2-compliant connection to a 4K display, with at least Intel’s 7th-gen Core CPU, plus the latest version of Windows)
    • Internet Explorer: Up to 1080p

Thank you for your reply. Suggest you consult Netflix. I don't use external monitors so can add no more. Good luck.
