Give this a try like I did.
Acronis True Image WD Edition 2016.33 Download - TechSpot
My Acer Aspire One netbook had a 250gb 5400rpm spinner and it also had a recovery partition on it as well including my Win7 Starter Edition OS with all my files AND to complicate matters a partition of Ubuntu including the boot loader controlling all. I purchased a WD 1tb SSD drive and using their software made a perfect clone of my original drive and installed the new drive and it functioned like nothing changed and like original. My only major situation is being a netbook with only one drive, I removed it and placed it and my replacement in my desktop and installed the cloning software. I set the original drive aside and if things went south which they didn't I would still have my original to fall back on.
    hennmann,

You have omitted crucial information from your post -
1 Acronis TI WD Edition can only be installed if a WD 'disk' is connected to the computer [either internally or by USB].
2 Acronis TI WD Edition can only run if a WD 'disk' is connected to the computer [either internally or by USB].
3 Acronis TI WD Edition's boot disk [its "bootable rescue media"] can only boot if a WD 'disk' is connected to the computer [either internally or by USB] - and it cannot detect unusual configurations {such as being connected through an adapter in a DVD drive bay}.
4 Acronis TI WD Edition can only restore an image if a WD 'disk' is connected to the computer [either internally or by USB] - this is despite what is claimed by WD, I have tried it.

5 The direct download link is in Acronis True Image WD Edition Software - WDC website

6 I could make corresponding comments about the Samsung-Seagate-Maxtor version, which is called Seagate DiscWizard

I use both the WD & Seagate versions in different computers & I have used a couple of different versions of the full Acronis TI on a trial basis over the years.
    - I am happy with the application but I did not want the OP to be misled.
    - In addition, it is also worth noting that people can get stacks of competent guidance about Macrium Reflect in this forum but very little about Acronis TI or these sawn-off versions of it.

    Denis

    PS

A I do not get any spam from Acronis, WD or Seagate.
B I have contacted Acronis TI customer service in the past and they were excellent even though I had a sawn-off version rather than a full paid-for version.

    Hi there
use Macrium --forget Acronis --- although I haven't used Acronis for years I'm still getting the odd spam email about "Big ticket Corporate" events etc -- apart from the fact that for most things a typical user required Macrium is free and easy to use .

I usually find the more "Sales Spiel" in "Big corporate expensive " sales pitch stuff a company does the lousier their products are and customer service (if any) is usually even worse.

    Cheers
