    MaCafee Virus please?

    Hello everybody.

I have managed to pick up the following Virus "McAfee" which my Son says Isn't from MaCfee at all.

Downloaded "MCPR" which Is a MaCfee Software Removal Tool, but has made no difference at all.

For Years I have used Windows Security with no problems.

Is there a Free Alternative out their that will do the Job.

    Any help please?

    Many thanks

    Paul.

Third party antivirus software each have their definitions.

All have rankings that vary month to month as there are false positives and false negatives.

I've been using Microsoft defender for many years and at times I'd used Malwarebytes for extra checking.

I have found Malwarebytes but it says it's only Valid for One Day.

    Thanks

If it's in dialogs that appear when you are using your browser then that is likely to be an attempt to get you to click on the messages [which could put malware on your computer].
When they appear again, please take a screenshot and post it here so people can take a look.

It's likely user error. User allowed notifications on some site that's serving this up.

@pcohen ....... if it was the Virus "McAfee" all hell would break lose on your computer ! But if you think it's possible then run this program & give me a report back !
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and save it to your desktop. >>> Free Antivirus 2023 | Free Malwarebytes Download | 100% Free & Easy Install | Malware Removal
Be sure to print out and follow the instructions provided on that same page.
Caution: This is a beta version so please be sure to read the disclaimer and back up all your data before using.
    Scan your system for malware
If malware is found - do not press the Clean up button, please go to the MBAR folder and then copy/paste the contents of the MBAR-log-***.txt file to your next reply.
If there is no malware found, please let me know as well.

    Thanks !
