    How to Add Advanced User Accounts to Control Panel in Windows 7, 8, and 10


    Advanced User Accounts ("netplwiz" or "control userpasswords2") allows you to manage user accounts on the computer. You can perform the following actions from Advanced User Accounts:


    Advanced User Accounts is not in the Control Panel by default, but you can add it.

    This tutorial will show you how to add Advanced User Accounts ("netplwiz" or "control userpasswords2") to the Control Panel for all users to open it from in Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.

    You must be signed in as an administrator to add or remove Advanced User Accounts for the Control Panel.



    EXAMPLE: Advanced User Accounts and Advanced User Accounts in Control Panel (icons view) and Control Panel (category view)

    Here's How:

    1 Do step 2 (add) or step 3 (remove) below for what you would like to do.


    2 To Add Advanced User Accounts to Control Panel

    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Add_Advanced_User_Accounts_to_Control_Panel.reg

    Download


    3 To Remove Advanced User Accounts from Control Panel

    This is the default setting.

    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Remove_Advanced_User_Accounts_from_Control_Panel.reg

    Download


    4 Save the .reg file to your desktop.

    5 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

    6 When prompted, click/tap on Run, OK (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

    7 If you like, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

    8 If the Control Panel is currently open, then close and reopen it to apply.

    Hello @Sestache, and Happy New Year to you as well.

    I was using the control userpasswords2 command to open Advanced User Accounts.

    I have updated the .reg file to use netplwiz.exe instead. Please download and merge the updated .reg file in step 2 to see how it works for you now.
