They are step by step and they all work, as far as I know.
- True if the brand new SSD comes with a single unallocated partition then it would be redundant to use diskpart.
- If the disk comes pre formatted with MBR/NTFS format and if you want to install Windows using GPT then you would use diskpart to make it unallocated and let Windows Installation initialize it as GPT disk and create the needed partitions.
- If the disk comes pre formatted with MBR/NTFS format and if you want to install Windows using MBR then you can install it as is. However, Windows will not create an extra 500MB reserved partition. You would end up with one single C drive. If you want the reserved partition created then you need diskpart to make it unallocated and let Windows creates the needed partitions.
As a normal practice. We always recommend to run diskpart to make sure the disk is unallocated and in addition, just connect only the disk you want to install Windows on to make sure the reserved partition will be put on the same disk as Windows OS.
Thanks guys, i am waiting on a Samsung 850 Pro SSD and it's going to be my only drive .
