Windows 10: how to install Win10 on a new Drive (same pc) and keep my license
how to install Win10 on a new Drive (same pc) and keep my license
I bought a new SSD drive, and i want to install windows 10 on it.
Can you please tell me what are my option to do that AND keep my windows 10 registered ?
You can clone your old drive to the new one then it will boot with everything still working or you can do a clean install no need for serial number it's all stored on ms so it will active if your logging in with a ms account

Changing the drive doesn't affect your digital licence or activation.
Thanks to some internal Microsoft documentation I recently saw, I can now publicly reveal the answers to your burning Windows 10 activation questions...
...“For Windows 10, we have factored out the hard drive in regard to licensing,” the documentation claims. “So you can replace it, re-install, click skip entering a product key on Media creation tool and the system will pull down a digital license that matches the motherboard.”
I didn't find any way to only clone the OS, my HDD is 2TB, while the SSD is only 250GB, i need to do a fresh install on it first
MiniTool Partition Wizard and Macrium Reflect Free are two programs that will both clone the OS for free.
