Repair Windows 10 startup using a new installed Windows 10 drive

    Hello

My Windows 10 failed to load. I didn't want to lose all my data, password and configurations, I had a new SSD drive with a new Windows 10 installed in my PC. Windows tool repair failed to resolve the problem.

Now, is it possible to repair the Windows installed on my old SSD drive without whipping all data on it. I'm still able to access the drive and I installed it in my PC. Win does see as the E: drive.

    Hope I'm clear enough.

    Any help appreciated.

Repairing problems with Windows is easiest when you have backup images.
Next best is a working restore point.
Regback used to be an option but is no longer automatically available.

Most troubleshooting is by trial and error steps.
Having error messages and codes is the typical starting point.

If troubleshooting fails or is too time consuming then options may be:
    reset save files
    custom install
    clean install
    etc.

These typically require the reinstallation of drivers and applications.

For troubleshooting create a bootable windows 10 iso and see what happens with each:
system restore (start with the oldest restore point and keep repeating as necessary to the most recent restore point)
    startup repair

    1) Find 3 or 4 flash drives that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

    2) Make tools that can be used to recover important files, test the drives, and troubleshoot

    3) On a working computer create:

    a) a new bootable windows 10 iso 2004:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
    Download Windows 10 ISO File
    Download Windows 10 ISO File
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

    b) bootable Ubuntu flash drive:

    c) Kyhi boot rescue flash drive:

    d) Macrium rescue media:

    4) Indicate whether you want to:
    a) continue troubleshooting
    b) perform a reset save files equivalent (reinstall drivers and applications)
    c) perform a clean install (reinstall drivers and applications, restore backed up files)
