I'm very angry right now.
I hope all you guys doing good.
Firstly, I managed to get the latest 2023-11 cumulative update, after 1 month of its release.
I'm not mentioning how many hours it took, to finish (at least with my low-end pc)
aand.. today this morning I booted up, and I saw.. a mess
All my taskbar icons, was eranged to the left of my screen.. I didnt got a backup for this unfortunately...
My start screen was ok, but I saw onedrive (I never used it btw) and something new, like an backup and restore app (M$ app)
Microsoft said that unistalled some legacy apps, that made me more angrier (I used some of them) (thank god didnt reinstalled my old games, on other hand ! )
Well,, and there is more (my 8-gadget pack gadgets gone, some of my personal settings was reset, fonts and lock screen font reset...)
If there is more I found, I will update

backup and restore app (M$ app)
That appeared quite a few weeks ago. Feel free to read about it in the News section and search tenforums.
About Sep '23 perhaps.
It's pretty useless- if you just leave it alone and forget it it won't jump out and bite you
It actually sounds as if you may have had a relatively old build and received a major build update. Is that possible?
No information on your previous or current build number- despite the forum prompt for the latter.
P.S. there are other GUI changes (minor) you may not yet have noticed- and the story's not finished yet- even for Win 10 apparently.

well.. at least my primary backup was lost, and I have a full 1tb hdd already full of files..
W10 today, is more spyware, kind of OS, rather than a good, clean aware of adware, M$ apps, operating system.
So, right because the MS did than unacceptable update on my system, I dont think I will continue those system updates...

- how come? Surely your backup isn't on an internal drive?
I've not seen people in general reporting significantly adverse effects of updates.
All updates now are minor- no more major feature updates to end of life of Win 10.
However MS is still fiddling with apps and some minor GUI issues (Start Menu).

my built number is: 19045.3693 windows 10 x64
The Cumulative Update you've just installed is
KB5032189 CU - TenForums
It would be worth looking in that thread to see if anybody else had problems like yours and if anybody posted any guidance about the subject.
Best of luck,
Denis

My backup was on external drive, (got lost not due to a "clenup" I've done, but thankfully I have the original files on my main drive.)
Back to the updates, I havent noticed many other changes before this particular update. So I thought it was nothing to install-but in my case-I made a big mistake

I found another bug, for some reason, microsoft thought it was good to set on my installed programs into the control panel, the same date of update as the downloaded date. Nice MS, thank you for your mess
I found even an old post on that forum, which had the same problem, so thats not new
