I'm trying to install a .cab file from KB5032906

    Hi,

    Here is my problem:

I'm trying to install a .cab file from KB5032906 (Microsoft catalog), using Command Prompt (Admin), and I'm getting two errors, 0x800700002 and error: 2, and it's telling me that the specified file cannot be found!??

I'm trying to install a .cab file from KB5032906-cab-file.jpg

I can't install it with Powershell (Admin).

I've downloaded this .cab file three times, just in case the file would have been corrupted, but after three times, I doubt that's the problem here!???

After checking in settings, .cab is missing in choose a default application for each file type.

I'm trying to install a .cab file from KB5032906-cab.png

I used this tutorial: Restore Default File Type Associations in Windows 10 | Tutorials... and it didn't change a thing, the .cab is still not in the settings, and I still get the same errors.

I've checked the Registry and all the keys are there.

How can I install this update and find the .cab in the settings?

Thanks in advance for your help!

It wouldn't.. if you look down to the entry for cab in that tutorial, you can see a blank- there is no default association.

    - except that you can open it to view its contents in file explorer:

Click the start button and select computer to launch Windows default file manager.
Open the drive and folder with the compressed file.
Find and select the CAB file(s) you wish to view.
Right-click on the file and open it to view its contents on Windows Explorer.

Any file compression program can open it, or potentially be assigned as the default program for cab files.

    Thanks for your answers!

I have unzipped the archive using 7zip, and ran setup.exe, and nothing happens, no window telling me any error!??

After restarting Windows Installer, and Windows Update, still nothing!

I should point out that Windows Update works just fine, no problems whatsoever. And, on a few occasions, I've installed .cab files using the command prompt, and I've never encountered any problems before.

Maybe I should forget this KB???

There's no point installing KB5032906 on a live system. Dynamic Update is intended for installation on Windows ISO's, it replaces some of the Setup files.

Seems an old update - from 1903 on.
