    Windows Update = Microsoft - Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.723

    I'm using Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004, Build 19041.610

The last few weeks, when I open Window Update --> Check for Updates the following driver "Microsoft - Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.723" is always Downloaded and Installed. This happens every time I check Windows Update. This is done without any OK to Install click.

When I view Update History --> Drivers I see this driver installed with the most recent date.

I have not installed new printer for 5 or 6 years. I've made not changes, that I know of, to the WiFi network to which the printers are connected.

Could really some help to find out what had change and why this is happening.

    Thanks.

Hi, you can hide (block) a specific update
    - with a 3rd party tool such as Windows Update Manager WUmgr (free) - Google
    - Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10
    - for a specific device:
Prevent Windows Update from Updating Specific Device Driver

There is normally little point in manually checking for updates as frequently as you seem to be doing.
Update checks happen in the background by default.

The greater problem is avoiding having MS deliver an update that may cause you problems.

The theory now is that all driver updates should be offered as optional updates....well, that's the theory.

Thanks for recommendations. It will be a day or two before I can work on them.

May or may not be of interest, but this appears to be resolved.

It appears this has been resolved by updating (beta release) Malwarebytes. Bleeping Computer (Lawrence Abrams) has an article about the problem which disrupted networked printers.

After installing the beta revision the problem I noted has been resolved.
